Annika von Hausswolff is a Swedish visual artist and currently an adjunct professor at the School of Photography at the University of Gothenburg. She received recognition in 1993 for her pictorial work Back to Nature, a series of staged photographs inspired by crime scene photos. The images highlight the problems with our view of the body, gender and existing power structures. Von Hausswolff worked with Jan Jörnmark to photograph the book Avgrunden (The Abyss), about industries that were abandoned in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis.
In 1999, she represented Sweden at the Venice Biennale and her work is currently on display at the Guggenheim Museum in New York and Moderna Museet in Stockholm.
