8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien. Published by Allen & Unwin in 1966. These are The Revised (2nd) Edition. Vol I: The Fellowship of the Ring is a First impression. Vol II: The Two Towers and Vol III: The Return of the King are also First impressions. The titles of the last two volumes, on the inner flaps of the dustjackets, were transposed by the printers, and are blocked out with the correct title printed above. This is considered the 1st state for these dustjackets. All three volumes are in Near Fine condition with a bright top edge stain, clean and bright textblock, and in Near Fine dustwrappers. The dustjackets showing very light edgewear, with minor amount of color loss to associated area. None have been price-clipped, and have all tipped in maps in Fine condition. The only faults noted are the light rubbing, with the spines unfaded or tanned, the white titles and publisher clean and bright. A beautiful original set of this classic, housed in a custom slipcase featuring Tolkien's Ring and Eye Device, Tengwar titles and author, and the Tolkien Monogram to the rear panel. They have been read, but exhibit no spine lean, no damaged edges or spines, same previous owners name and purchase dates to all three books, no other writing.
