Sabino glass was made in the 1920s and 1930s in Paris, France. Founded by Marius-Ernest Sabino (1878-1961), the firm was noted for Art Deco lamps, vases, figurines, and animals in clear, colored, and opalescent glass. Sabino himself was known for creating lights ranging from small lamps to large chandeliers, and also architectural lighting for hotels and restaurants. Production stopped during World War II but resumed in the 1960s with the manufacture of nude figurines and small opalescent glass animals. The new pieces are a slightly different color and can be recognized. This is an excellent example of a Sabino Opalescent Large Snail Figure produced from 1920-30. This is original imported version. We have authenticated this as the older version since when we apply black light (365NM) to this snail it turns orange which is a sign of arsenic in the glass. The design of this piece is executed extremely well with exceptional detail to the entire piece. Outstanding decorative figure that displays exceptionally well. Exceptional figure in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. Authentic and appropriately signed Sabino. Has Sabino France etched on bottom. All images are original and un-edited. Authentic pre-war Sabino. Height: 2", Base: 2 1/2", Length: 3 3/4"
