Roseville Pottery Vase Trial Glaze Magnolia # 181-8 1948

About the item

This vase was purchased from the estate auction of Randy Monsen who was an avid collector of Roseville pottery. He wrote two books on the subject, "Collectors Compendium of Roseville Pottery Volume 1 and Volume 2". Included in this auction were many rare experimental and trial glaze pieces. This Magnolia vase was just one of many trial glaze pieces that were available that day. Most trail glaze pieces are hand marked on the bottom in crayon, pen or black slip. This vase is numeral hand marked 719, 61-968. The pencil inventory annotation on the bottom is from Mr. Monsen. I did not remove these to preserve the provenance and pottery history. They can be removed by the next owner if they so choose. This vintage vase displays an exceptionally detailed mold with excellent color. The glaze is an interesting combination of green and yellow - nice arts and crafts colors. You will not find another as Roseville trial glaze pieces are exceptionally rare and difficult to locate. It displays well from all angles. This is your chance to own a piece of antique Roseville pottery history. This item was inspected with a Mil-spec UVA (365NM) and UVC (254NM) high intensity ultra-violet light and no evidence of repair or modification was detected. Exceptional vase in that has no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Flat pull chip below foot ring, otherwise excellent condition. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops. Dimensions are below. H: 8 ", Base: 5 1/4" , Rim: 5 1/2", For more information on vintage and antique Roseville art pottery, visit the Roseville Pottery website. Roseville Pottery
