Of this book, the author says in his preface: "The author desires to point out . that his primary object is to establish the reality of a death-surviving consciousness, and to prove that this consciousness is distinct from, and has a separate existence from the normal consciousness of our everyday life, and that it constitutes that which is the one distinctive gift to man - the soul."
