Louis XVI Style, Early 20th Century French Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze

About the item

19th century French furniture styles prior to the 1848 Revolution, named for Louis-Phillippe d'Orleans, have less ornamentation, carving, gilding, and bronze, and more simple, rounded lines; Napoleon III or Empire Style, which followed the revolution, marks a return to grand interiors and expressions of wealth, meaning expensive materials, especially giltwood, detailed, high-quality work, and an explosion of fine upholstery. This luxurious encoignure is from the early 20th century and is crafted in the Louis XVI style from France. The shelves feature an elegant gray marble top and are crafted from a rich mahogany wood. Brass detail decorates this piece for bold accent which gives this antique a unique look.
