This 3rd generation Frontier revolver is engraved by the Colt Master Engraver George Spring in a style that honors past Colt engravers. Standard features with standard one-line Colt Hartford top barrel address, left barrel side model designation and left frame three-line patent marking. Differing scroll engraved patterns on the 3 inch rear barrel section, 1 1/2 inch rear ejector housing section, bottom of back strap, trigger guard, rear sides of frame and the area between the cylinder flutes with half wagon wheel-like engraving. The recoil shield and loading gate feature a leaf engraving with radiating lines. In other words, it is a "B" scroll engraving in Henshaw style on the bottom of the back strap and trigger guard, Nimschke style on the cylinder, Helfricht style on the frame, and Contemporary style on the barrel and ejector housing. The top of the back strap is engraved with the Colt 150th logo with "Colt Engraving Sampler" running down the back strap in script. Blued with casehardened frame and polished hammer sides. Fitted with smooth grips with blind left sided screw hole, gold Colt 150th medallions and "R. Henshaw 183/L. Nimschke 1850-1900/C. Helfricht 1871-1921/Contemporary" carved in script on the left grip. Complete with shipping box and maroon Colt box numbered to gun with papers and the Custom Shop label confirming the engraving. The accompanying Colt factory letter identifies this revolver including the George Spring engraving and indicates that it was shipped to Sile Distributors, Inc., Meriden, Connecticut, on 22 October 1987.
