8vo. Tan cloth with brown spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 251pp. Near fine/very good. Jacket a bit edgeworn, with couple of archivally-closed (on verso) edge tears -- thus overall fairly attractive. Tight, quite handsome first edition of this "Dutton Novel of Suspense" set in the Mideast -- with choice author inscription and signature in blue ballpoint on front flyleaf to a fellow author: "To / Peter Taylor / With the best / wishes of / Frank Gruber." Uncommon, especially signed. Taylor (1917-94) was a noted Southern novelist, playwright and short story writer. Gruber (1904-69) was a prolific pulp fiction writer who penned a great many detective and Western novels.
