About the item

The two identically graded cents are designated within their holders as Coin #1 and Coin #2 by PCGS. Coin #2 was struck first, and its first impression was normal. It did not fully eject, and a new planchet (to become Coin #1) was fed in. The two pieces partly overlapped, and were both struck by the dies. It was the second strike for Coin #2, 70% off center toward 12 o'clock, at 10:30 relative to the first strike. The strike was uniface obverse for Coin #2, since Coin #1 rested between Coin #2 and the reverse die. Coin #1 was struck once, with its obverse 30% indented by Coin #2, affecting the upper obverse above Lincoln's lips.HID07601242017
