Carl Johan De Geer is a Swedish painter, photographer, designer and author. De Geer studied graphic design at the University College of Arts, Crafts & Design. During the 1960s he was one of the representatives of the transnational art movement and earned recognition for his anti-military posters, entitled “Svik fosterlandet, var onationell” (Betray your country, be anti-nationalistic) and “Skända flaggan” (Desecrate the flag). De Geer is famous for being the force behind the publication “Puss” (Kiss), which satirized society and its representatives. De Geer considers himself to be a hard-working producer of applied art and in the 1970s, he was one of the founders of the 10 Group, a textile artist collective.
His exhibitions are often presented as entire scenographies where De Geer personally designed everything, from textiles to films. De Geer’s work is represented at spaces such as Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Norrköping Art Museum and Gothenburg Museum of Art.
